Odisha Fire Services constable accused of dowry harassment and forced abortion

A woman in Odisha has filed a police complaint against her husband, a constable in the Fire Services Department, alleging six years of physical and mental torture. The complainant, who married Sarbeswar Behera in 2019, claims the harassment was driven by demands for dowry, specifically a car and a Bullet motorcycle.

The woman has also leveled a serious allegation that she was forced to undergo an abortion against her will. She reported that her husband frequently assaulted her and threatened their son. After previously alleging that no significant action was taken by local police, she has now approached the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Bhubaneswar seeking a detailed investigation and the arrest of her husband.
