Odisha floods affect 300 students in Kendrapara school

Floodwaters have inundated the Pattamundai Kulsahi Ashram School in Odisha’s Kendrapara district, affecting more than 300 students. This marks the fourth time that flood-like conditions have emerged in the region's rivers, including the Vaitarani and Salandi.

Odisha Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj stated that authorities are following established Standard Operating Procedures, providing dry rations and operating free community kitchens. The flooding has impacted several areas, including the Dhamnagar, Bhandaripokhari, Chandbali, and Tihidi blocks. In the Dhamnagar block alone, approximately 20 to 22 panchayats are currently facing inundation.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, 429 villages across 52 blocks in the affected districts have been impacted. In response, 79 rescue teams have been deployed to carry out relief operations. The Central Water Commission has issued warnings regarding flash-flood risks in parts of the state, while authorities continue to monitor river levels in neighboring districts such as Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar.
