Odisha government grants protected monument status to Kedar Gouri Temple

The Odisha state government has officially declared the historic Kedar Gouri Temple complex in Old Bhubaneswar a protected monument. The decision, made by the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture under the Odisha Ancient Monuments Preservation Act, 1956, aims to ensure the long-term conservation and maintenance of the site.

The Odisha State Archaeology Department will now oversee the preservation and regular upkeep of the complex. This designation brings the total number of monuments under the state archaeology department's responsibility to 213, while 82 other protected monuments in the state remain under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India.
