Odisha Government Launches Free Financial Literacy Training for College Students

The Odisha Higher Education Department has introduced the NSE BFSI Skill Programme across universities and colleges in the state. The initiative provides free training in stock market operations, mutual funds, insurance, banking and other financial transactions.

In its first phase, the programme will be rolled out in 97 selected institutions within a 100‑km radius of major cities such as Bhubaneswar, Brahmapur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jeypore, Kendrapada, Kendujhar, Rourkela and Sambalpur. It targets undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in B.Com, BBA, BMS, Economics, Commerce, MBA and M.Com courses and includes a 30‑hour professional certificate course in mutual funds at no cost. The training is delivered in partnership with the National Stock Exchange of India under the National Skill Development Mission, and also prepares students for the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) certification.
