Odisha Government to inventory Puri Srimandir Ratna Bhandar valuables

The Odisha government has announced that the inventory of precious ornaments and valuables stored in the Ratna Bhandar of Puri Srimandir will be conducted using the 1978 inventory record as a primary reference. Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan stated that while the process will be documented with transparency, the final inventory list will not be released to the public.

To ensure comprehensive documentation, authorities are utilizing three-dimensional mapping, photography, and videography to record rare ornaments containing gemstones such as rubies and pearls. The inventory process is expected to span several weeks, continuing through the Durga Puja period and aiming for completion before the month of Margashira.

Minister Harichandan explained that the new records will be securely preserved for decades, accessible only to authorized government officials. He cited the sensitive nature of the Ratna Bhandar and established temple traditions as reasons for maintaining the confidentiality of the list.
