Odisha Government Upgrades 67 Primary Schools to Upper Primary Level

The Odisha government has approved the conversion of 67 primary schools into upper‑primary schools across 22 districts. The School and Mass Education Department directed the Odisha School Education Programme Authority to provide the required classrooms, infrastructure and teaching staff in line with government standards.

Dhenkanal will receive the most upgrades, with 12 schools, followed by Bargarh and Jajpur (seven each), Nuapada (six), Kalahandi (five) and Mayurbhanj (four). The move aims to improve access to quality education for students in rural and remote areas, shorten travel distances, and reduce family burdens while enhancing learning environments.
