Odisha Governor calls for global tourism expansion

During the valedictory ceremony of the 7th Odisha Tourism Conclave in Bhubaneswar, Governor Braj Mohan Ram advocated for an integrated approach to elevate the state’s tourism sector to national and international prominence. He emphasized that every district in Odisha possesses unique potential through its natural resources, historical monuments, and cultural heritage.

The Governor highlighted the need for robust infrastructure development, increased investment, and improved connectivity to ensure economic benefits reach remote areas. He noted that tourism serves as a catalyst for growth in sectors such as hospitality, transportation, handicrafts, and agriculture. To enhance global visibility, he called for a focus on modern amenities, skilled manpower, and digital promotion.

Specific segments identified for growth include eco-tourism, spiritual tourism, adventure tourism, and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourism. The event, hosted by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Odisha (HRAO), aimed to bridge the gap between government, industry leaders, and investors to create actionable policy initiatives.
