Odisha Habishyali scheme opens registration for 2,500 women in Puri
The Odisha government will open online registration on October 6 at 10 am for the Habishyali scheme, providing support for 2,500 women observing the month-long Kartika Brata in Puri. The observance is scheduled to take place from October 26 to November 24.
Eligible applicants include widowed women up to 70 years of age and married women between 50 and 70 years, provided they are physically and mentally fit. Registration must be completed through the official e-District portal, and the process will close once the 2,500-seat capacity is reached. This year, the administration is prioritizing new applicants.
Selected beneficiaries will receive free accommodation at Brundabati Niwas, the Municipal Kalyan Mandap, or the Railway Tourist Complex. The scheme also includes special arrangements for darshan at Srimandir and free Abadha Mahaprasad. The Puri district administration, supported by volunteers from the Red Cross and St John Ambulance, will manage accommodation and temple visits to ensure smooth movement.
