Odisha, India under five‑day rain and thunderstorm warnings

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow warnings for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty surface winds of 30‑40 km/h across several districts of Odisha for five consecutive days (July 9‑14). The warnings cover districts including Sundargarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak, with expectations of light to moderate rain or thundershowers throughout the state.

A cyclonic circulation over West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh is expected to keep rainfall active for the next seven days, with the possibility of heavy rain from July 13 onward. Specific districts such as Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar are also under yellow warnings for heavy rain. Recent measurements recorded up to 71 mm of rain at Gurundia in Sundargarh district.
