Odisha Interim DGP reviews law and order and festival security
Odisha Interim Director General of Police Vinaytosh Mishra held a high-level review meeting via video conference with Range IGs, DIGs, and District Superintendents of Police to discuss state-wide law and order. The meeting focused on crime suppression, identifying sensitive areas, and improving police services for the public.
Mishra emphasized a citizen-centric approach, instructing officers to treat complainants with dignity and ensure impartial, timely investigations. He also mandated regular attendance at police stations and frequent inspections by Sub-Divisional Police Officers to monitor station functioning.
In preparation for a series of major festivals occurring between August and November—including Janmashtami, Durga Puja, and Diwali—Mishra ordered enhanced security preparedness. This includes adequate deployment at sensitive locations, effective crowd and traffic management, and continuous monitoring of communally sensitive areas. Additionally, he called for stringent action against organized criminals and intensified patrolling to prevent illegal cattle transportation and arms manufacturing.
