Odisha launches ANKUR urban transformation initiative

The Government of Odisha has released the ANKUR (Atal Network for Knowledge, Urbanisation and Reform) Partners’ Handbook to advance the state’s urban governance and sustainable development. Launched by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the initiative aims to empower Urban Local Bodies and address urbanization challenges through strategic partnerships with academic, technical, and private-sector organizations.

Strategic partners involved in the initiative include UN-Habitat, Tata Steel Foundation, WRI India, and the Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, among others. The program aligns with the long-term visions of Viksit Odisha @2036 and Viksit Bharat @2047.

Additionally, Odisha received three national awards at the 19th Urban Mobility India Conference in Bhubaneswar. The state earned a Commendation Award for best urban transport reforms, while Bhubaneswar won the Excellence Award for its green transport initiatives. The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) reported that electric buses now constitute over 52 per cent of its fleet.
