Odisha launches India’s first state-owned safety app

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has launched the Odisha Yatri Safety App, recognized as India’s first state-owned safety application. Unveiled on Local Self-Government Day, the app is designed to enhance urban mobility security for passengers and drivers, with a specific focus on women, senior citizens, and vulnerable groups.

The platform features a “Shake & Alert” function, which allows users to trigger emergency alerts by shaking their mobile device. Other integrated tools include a one-click SOS button connecting to the national emergency number 112, live location sharing with trusted contacts, and the ability to record audio during emergencies. The app also provides quick access to police, ambulance, and fire services.

Minister for Housing and Urban Development Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra and brand ambassador Archita Sahu participated in the launch. The initiative aims to integrate these safety modules into the existing Odisha Yatri ecosystem, which already includes services such as ride booking, Ama Bus, and FASTicket.
