Odisha launches Sujal campaign for water conservation

The Odisha government has launched the ‘Sujal’ campaign, a statewide initiative aimed at promoting water conservation and ensuring access to safe drinking water. Inaugurated by Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra in Bhubaneswar, the campaign is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 16.

Organized by the Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO) under the Housing and Urban Development Department, the drive focuses on educating citizens about responsible water usage and the prevention of water-borne diseases such as typhoid, jaundice, dysentery, and diarrhoea. The initiative encourages practical measures, including repairing leaks, storing water in clean containers, and avoiding waste near water sources.

To assist residents with water supply issues, the government has provided toll-free helplines at 155359 and 1800-1216-833.
