Odisha launches WhatsApp-based revenue grievance system

Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari has launched a WhatsApp-based Revenue Grievance Redressal System. The initiative utilizes the existing ‘Ama Sathi’ chatbot to provide a digital platform for citizens to lodge complaints regarding various revenue services, such as land records, mutation, and land classification.

Through the system, users can select a grievance category, submit details, and upload supporting documents via WhatsApp. The platform provides automated updates at every stage, including receipt, progress, verification, escalation, and final resolution or rejection. To ensure accountability, the system follows a structured workflow where grievances are handled by Tahasildars, Revenue Inspectors, Sub-Collectors, or District Collectors depending on the complexity and required field verification.

Additional Chief Secretary Arabinda Kumar Padhee noted that the system is designed to promote greater sensitivity and accountability among officials through direct oversight. The department intends to monitor grievances against prescribed timelines to ensure timely disposal and will refine the system based on user experience.
