Odisha man charged with murder after father dies from assault

In Odisha's Jajpur district, a 23-year-old man has been charged with murder after his 65-year-old father died from injuries sustained during a domestic dispute. The incident occurred on August 19, when the victim allegedly rebuked his son for returning home intoxicated. The accused reportedly attacked the elderly man with a wooden plank, causing severe head trauma and fractured ribs.

Following the assault, the victim was treated at a medical facility and discharged on September 3. However, he passed away at his residence the following night. While the suspect was initially taken into custody for attempted murder, police have since upgraded the charges to murder under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
