Odisha officials discuss Mahaprasad supply and firewood sustainability

The Odisha government is reviewing measures to ensure a steady supply of firewood for preparing Mahaprasad at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. During a meeting between Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan and Suara Nijog representatives, officials discussed creating a permanent mechanism for firewood availability. This includes proposals to develop new forest plantations on government and temple-owned land to prevent future shortages.

Additionally, the meeting addressed improving Mahaprasad distribution. Proposed changes include displaying a prescribed price list to increase transparency for devotees and organizing the functioning of Anand Bazaar. The goal is to enhance convenience for visitors while preserving traditional practices and the sanctity of the temple.
