Odisha officials suspended and arrested over bribery after viral video and sting operation

A senior Revenue Assistant, Mohan Bag, in Odisha's Nuapada district was suspended after a video allegedly showing him accepting a bribe from a contractor went viral. The suspension was ordered by Nuapada Collector Madhusudan Dash, and disciplinary proceedings have been launched to investigate the allegations.

Odisha Vigilance also trapped two staff members of the Regional Transport Office in Raurkela—Dealing Clerk‑cum‑Night Watcher Niranjan Sandha and IT Executive Dharmendra Kumar Behera—who demanded and accepted Rs 26,000 to process Fresh Registration Certificates for two auctioned trucks. The full amount was seized, a case was filed under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, and investigations are ongoing.
