Odisha police clear 80‑km green corridor to rush injured boy to MKCG Hospital
A 10‑year‑old Class‑5 student, Prabhudatta Jena, suffered a severe abdominal injury when the handlebar of his bicycle pierced his abdomen in Patharakata village, Puri district, Odisha. The boy was taken to a community health centre in Krushnaprasad and then referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur due to the seriousness of his condition.
Police, led by Sub‑Divisional Police Officer Manas Ranjan Barik and overseen by Puri SP Prateek Singh, established an 80‑km traffic‑free green corridor from Krushnaprasad to the hospital. The ambulance departed at about 3:05 pm and reached the hospital at 4:45 pm without obstruction. Upon arrival, the patient was examined and taken to surgery, which was completed by a team headed by Dr. Manas Ranjan Sahu, head of the paediatric surgery department, under the supervision of Hospital Superintendent Sudeepa Dash. The boy is now in the ICU under observation, with his condition reported as stable.
