Odisha police investigate alleged rape of woman in Jaleswar

Police in the Jaleswar area of Odisha’s Balasore district have launched an investigation following the alleged sexual assault of a woman. Preliminary reports indicate the victim was reportedly tied to a pole before the assault occurred.

The incident has sparked significant local outrage and raised concerns regarding women’s safety and administrative accountability in the region. Law enforcement authorities have registered a formal case and are conducting a multi-angled investigation to identify the perpetrators.

This event follows recent scrutiny of local police response to the disappearance and alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in the same district. In connection to that previous case, the Inspector of Jaleswar police station was transferred and a Sub-Inspector was suspended following allegations of negligence.
