Odisha Police rescues 101 children across 17 states

Odisha Police has successfully rescued 101 children, including 47 girls, across 17 Indian states through a special initiative known as ‘Operation Anweshan’. The drive, conducted between August 28 and September 8, involved 17 specialized teams deployed to regions where Odia children are frequently located.

According to S Shyni, Additional Director General and head of the Crime Against Women and Children Wing, the rescued group consisted of 54 boys and 47 girls. The youngest child recovered was three months old. The operation traced 83 children from various Child Care Institutions (CCIs) and seven children from labor sites. Additionally, 11 children who had been officially reported missing in Odisha were located.

West Bengal saw the highest number of rescues with 30 children, followed by Karnataka with 11, and 10 children each in Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu. Of the total rescued, 100 children have been repatriated to Odisha for reintegration and rehabilitation efforts.
