Odisha Police to recruit 113 retired officers as Special Police Officers
The South Western Range (SWR) of the Odisha Police has announced the recruitment of 113 retired police personnel to serve as Special Police Officers (SPOs) on a contractual basis. The initiative seeks to re-engage experienced former Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and Inspectors to strengthen policing capabilities across six districts.
The vacancies are distributed as follows: Rayagada (24), Koraput (22), Malkangiri (20), Kalahandi (18), Nabarangpur (16), and Nuapada (13).
Eligible candidates must be permanent residents of Odisha, aged 65 or younger, and possess an unblemished service record with no pending criminal cases. Applicants must also be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing Odia. The selection process, which includes document verification, a medical exam, an interview, and a physical test requiring a 5 km walk within one hour, is scheduled for October 28, 2026, in Koraput. Applications must be submitted to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, SWR, Koraput, by October 15, 2026.
