The Odisha Premier League (OPL) 2026 has officially commenced at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The opening ceremony featured Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi and league ambassadors Suresh Raina and Debashish Mohanty, who encouraged young cricketers to utilize the professional platform to advance their careers.

In preparation for the season, Lucknow-based Green City Hospitals has acquired full ownership of the Sambalpur Warriors, last season’s runners-up. Dr. Vineet Kumar Verma, Director of Green City Hospitals, stated the acquisition aims to build a competitive franchise that represents the spirit of the Sambalpur region and provides opportunities for local emerging talent.

The Warriors are scheduled to begin their campaign on September 20 against the defending champions, the Cuttack Panthers, in a rematch of last season’s final.
