Odisha promotes IPS officers Sanjeeb Panda and Yeshwant Jethwa to DG rank

The Odisha government has promoted senior IPS officers Sanjeeb Panda and Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP). The promotions were approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The elevation comes as the state prepares for a leadership transition in the police force, as incumbent DGP Y B Khurania is set to retire on August 16. Sanjeeb Panda, who currently leads anti-Naxal operations, and Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa, the Director of Vigilance, are now among the primary contenders for the top post.

Other senior officers in the running for the position include Sudhanshu Sarangi and R P Koche. The state is expected to submit a panel of candidates to the Union Public Service Commission to shortlist the final three names for the appointment.
