Odisha receives national award for urban housing reforms
Odisha has received a Special Recognition Award from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for implementing the highest number of reforms under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0. The award was presented in New Delhi during the PMAY-U Urban Awards 2026.
The recognition highlights the state’s efforts to improve administrative efficiency, strengthen coordination between agencies, and utilize technology to create a more transparent and citizen-centric housing delivery system. These reforms aim to simplify processes and reduce procedural hurdles for eligible urban families seeking housing assistance.
Odisha Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of government officials, Urban Local Bodies, and implementing agencies. He stated that the government's goal is to ensure eligible families receive safe, secure, and dignified homes through a streamlined system.
