Odisha reports two separate child sexual assault cases, both victims rescued

In Keonjhar district, a minor girl was allegedly abducted, raped and assaulted by two men, one of whom was a relative. The attackers tried to kill her with a stone, but passersby rescued her and detained the suspects, who were later taken into police custody and are receiving medical treatment. In Nabarangpur district, a four‑year‑old girl was found critically injured after being sexually assaulted by a minor boy. She was taken to a district hospital for treatment and remains in critical condition. Police have arrested the juvenile suspect and opened an investigation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act, prompting community outrage and calls for stricter penalties.
