Odisha Vigilance raids engineer over disproportionate assets

The Odisha Vigilance department has conducted simultaneous raids across Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Khordha districts, uncovering significant assets linked to Arabinda Mohanty, an Executive Engineer for the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Sub-Division in Betanoti.

The investigation follows allegations that Mohanty possessed disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income. During the searches, officials identified several high-value properties, including a 3,500 sq. ft. triple-storey building in Angargadia, an 1,800 sq. ft. double-storey building in Balianta, and a five-acre farmhouse in Basantapur featuring two fish ponds and a poultry farm. Additionally, authorities located 20 high-value land plots near Balasore town, Rs 2.77 lakh in cash, one four-wheeler, and two two-wheelers.

Vigilance teams are currently conducting technical measurements and valuations of the properties. Investigations are also ongoing regarding bank lockers held by Mohanty’s spouse and an associate, as well as various financial investments and deposits.
