Odisha Vigilance seizes ₹2 crore cash, five buildings from engineer Baikuntha Nath Behera

Baikuntha Nath Behera, an Assistant Executive Engineer with the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Baliguda, Kandhamal district, was arrested by Odisha Vigilance on June 6, 2026. Simultaneous raids at nine locations in Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, Baripada, Mayurbhanj and Baliguda uncovered assets far exceeding his known income, estimated at 798% of his salary. seized were more than ₹2.04 crore in cash from bank lockers, five multi‑storey buildings covering over 20,000 sq ft, 14 high‑value plots (eight in Bhubaneswar, five in Jajpur, one in Baripada), gold jewellery weighing about 341 g, bank deposits of ₹45 lakh, a Hyundai Creta and other valuables. He was forwarded to the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, and a case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
