Odisha Vigilance raids unearth massive assets linked to Jajpur engineer

The Odisha Vigilance Directorate has conducted coordinated raids across Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Jajpur targeting Tapan Sethi, an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in the R&B Sub-Division of Badachana, Jajpur. The operation follows allegations that Sethi accumulated illicit wealth far exceeding his legitimate income during his nearly three decades of government service.

Investigators have identified a significant portfolio of disproportionate assets, including multiple high-value properties. These include a triple-storey mansion in CDA Cuttack, a 3,600 sq. ft. building in Puri, a double-storey residence in Bhubaneswar, and a one-acre farmhouse near Cuttack. Additionally, authorities identified several high-value land plots and approximately 550 grams of gold jewellery.

Other seized items include luxury vehicles, such as a Grand Vitara and a Hyundai Santro, along with various financial investments. Technical teams and forensic auditors are currently assessing the total valuation of the seized assets and are in the process of inspecting a bank locker held at the SBI Main Branch in Bhubaneswar.
