Odisha Vigilance seizes Rs 7.15 lakh from Kendrapada engineer
The Odisha Vigilance Department has seized a total of Rs 7.15 lakh in cash from Anupama Sahoo, an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Drainage Division in Kendrapada. The investigation follows allegations that Sahoo collected bribes from contractors to clear pending bills.
Officials initially intercepted Sahoo at the Marshaghai Crossing on NH-53A while she was traveling from her office to her residence in an official vehicle. During this interception, authorities recovered Rs 3.15 lakh in cash. Because she could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the funds, the money and the vehicle were seized.
Subsequent searches conducted at her residential premises in Nayanvihar resulted in the recovery of an additional Rs 4 lakh. Vigilance officials are currently examining her financial records, assets, and documents to determine if she possesses assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
