Odisha weather alert: Orange warning issued for heavy rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for six districts in Odisha—Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Boudh, Subarnapur, and Baragada—due to continuous heavy rainfall caused by a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.

While a brief lull in rainfall intensity is expected around August 26, weather officials predict a significant resurgence in activity. An orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecasted for Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj starting August 28, with the intensity expected to expand to Baleshwar and Sundargarh by August 29. Another low-pressure area is also expected to form in the Bay of Bengal toward the end of the month.
