Odisha weather warning issued for week-long rainfall
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for Odisha, predicting a week-long period of rainfall and unsettled weather. A low-pressure area is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal by September 10, which is likely to trigger increased precipitation across the state.
Initial forecasts indicate light to moderate rain and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 km/h across various districts. While current intensity remains relatively low, rainfall is projected to escalate significantly starting September 9. Heavy downpours are expected to impact several regions, including Baleshwar, Mayurbhanj, and Kendujhar, with the volume of rain expanding further by September 10.
