Odisha weather watch: Rain may disrupt Durga Puja festivities
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather outlook indicating that Durga Puja celebrations in Odisha may be impacted by rainfall due to a developing weather system in the Bay of Bengal.
An upper-air cyclonic circulation is expected to emerge over the north Andaman Sea around October 12, potentially triggering a low-pressure area by October 13. The IMD estimates a 1 to 33 per cent chance that this system could intensify into a depression over the central South Bay of Bengal around October 15. If the system moves toward the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast, it could bring widespread rain during the festive period, which begins in Odisha on October 16.
While no significant rainfall is expected in Odisha until October 15, weather conditions may change around October 17-18. Additionally, the southwest monsoon is expected to begin its withdrawal from Odisha next week.
