Odisha's Rath Yatra Chariot Wheels to Be Installed at Rashtrapati Bhavan
The sacred wheels of the three chariots used in Puri's annual Rath Yatra will be displayed at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The proposal was presented by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration chief Arabinda Padhee and approved by President Droupadi Murmu, who called it a matter of pride for Odisha.
The wheels – from Lord Jagannath's Nandighosh, Lord Balabhadra's Taladhwaja and Goddess Subhadra's Darpadalan – will be transported to the presidential estate as enduring symbols of the state’s centuries‑old Jagannath tradition. The installation follows a previous cultural showcase in October 2024, when sandstone replicas of the Konark wheels were placed at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre.
The display highlights Odisha’s cultural and spiritual heritage at the nation’s highest constitutional residence, reinforcing the link between regional traditions and national identity.
