Odivelas residents protest waste accumulation in Serra da Luz
Residents of the Serra da Luz neighborhood in Odivelas have expressed indignation over the accumulation of trash and bulky waste on the streets. The buildup has reportedly attracted pests such as rats, cockroaches, and flies, creating public health risks and potential fire hazards.
Local residents blame the Odivelas City Council for relocating trash bins. In response, the council and the Intermunicipal Water and Waste Services of Loures and Odivelas (SIMAR) stated that traffic directions were changed on July 22 to improve vehicle access for waste collection. Authorities claim that the issue persists because some residents continue to leave waste at old locations that are no longer accessible to collection trucks.
