ODM announces month-long commemoration for Raila Odinga

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced that it will dedicate the entire month of October to honoring the memory of its late founder, Raila Odinga. Titled ‘Mwezi wa Baba’, the month-long commemoration marks the first anniversary of the former Prime Minister’s death on October 15, 2025.

The planned activities include a nationwide series of events such as candle lighting ceremonies, major rallies, and family-led commemorations. On October 2, supporters across Kenya are invited to participate in candle lighting at 6 p.m. A major memorial rally is scheduled for October 9 in Kakamega Town, followed by activities led by the Odinga family between October 10 and 15, culminating in a memorial service at Kang'o Ka Jaramogi.

Additional rallies and activities are planned for various regions, including Garissa Town to engage supporters from Northern Kenyan counties, as well as events in Kajiado and Turkana counties on October 21 and 23. The month of remembrance will conclude with a memorial rally in Nairobi.
