ODM Coast caucus demands action against UDA's Hassan Omar

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Coast caucus has called for disciplinary action against United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar. ODM leaders, led by county chairman Mohamed Khamis, accused Omar of making reckless remarks that threaten the unity of the broad-based governing arrangement between the two parties ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The demand follows controversial comments made by Omar in Mombasa, where he suggested that “even the dead would rise to ensure President William Ruto wins” a second term. While Omar has issued a public apology and claimed the remarks were metaphorical, ODM officials stated his conduct is inconsistent with democratic values and undermines campaign efforts for the President's re-election bid under the current political arrangement.
