Odyssey sets South Korean box office record with 40 days at number one
The film ‘Odyssey’, directed by Christopher Nolan, has set a new record in the South Korean box office by maintaining the number one position for 40 consecutive days. According to the Korean Film Council, the film drew 449,039 viewers during the weekend of September 11–13, marking its sixth consecutive week at the top of the weekend charts.
With a cumulative audience of over 10.78 million, ‘Odyssey’ has surpassed the previous records held by ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and ‘Suzume’, which both held the top spot for 35 consecutive days. This achievement makes it the longest-running foreign film at number one in South Korea since 2010. The film, starring Matt Damon, follows the journey of Odysseus as he attempts to return to Ithaca following the Trojan War.
Other films in the top rankings include ‘Obsession’ in second place and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ in third place.
