Oedo Onsen Monogatari expands through facility renewal and new business models
Oedo Onsen Monogatari is expanding its presence in the Japanese hot spring sector through both facility renewals and new business succession models.
In Minoh City, Osaka, the Oedo Onsen Monogatari Minoh Onsen Spa Garden is scheduled to undergo a renewal opening on October 1, 2026. The updated facility will feature advanced technology, including a “Mirai Ningen Sentakuki” (Future Human Washing Machine) that uses AI to optimize music, visuals, and water flow for a personalized bathing experience. The facility will also include ultra-fine bubble baths, a library with approximately 5,000 books, and a sky terrace overlooking the Osaka plains.
Separately, GENSEN HOLDINGS has launched Oedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Matsunoi following a business succession agreement with Seagull Resort Innovation. This transition utilizes a building lease scheme rather than a traditional ownership transfer, a model designed to alleviate the burden on owners facing successor shortages. The initiative aims to preserve historic facilities by combining traditional hospitality with chain operations to drive regional economic revitalization.
