Oegstgeest seeks nominations for special tree protection list

The municipality of Oegstgeest is seeking nominations for a special tree list to protect significant local flora. Trees included on this list will be granted special status, preventing them from being felled without careful consideration.

To qualify, trees must generally be at least fifty years old and expected to live for at least another ten years. Trees aged between fifty and eighty years are classified as ‘valuable’, while those older than eighty receive ‘monumental’ status. Criteria for nomination include ecological importance, aesthetic value, distinctive shapes, or historical significance related to specific people or events. Nominations can be submitted via the municipal participation platform until October 14.
