Oeiras Municipality implements teacher housing and school supply programs
The Oeiras Municipality is implementing several initiatives to support the local educational community. Through the Municipal Supported Housing Program for Teachers, the council is providing affordable housing to 28 displaced teachers. This program, established in the 2019/2020 academic year, offers rooms at a monthly rent of 150 euros, which includes essential services such as gas, electricity, water, internet, and television. Since its inception, the program has supported 82 teachers, helping to stabilize the local teaching workforce by mitigating housing difficulties.
Additionally, as part of the Oeiras Community Valley social responsibility program, the municipality has distributed school supply kits to 535 children to promote inclusion and reduce socio-educational inequalities. The initiative also includes providing computer equipment to nine municipal study support centers to bolster daily educational assistance. These efforts are part of a broader strategy by the municipality to foster educational stability and community support through cooperation between the public and private sectors.
