Oțelul Galați dismisses coach Stjepan Tomas

Oțelul Galați has officially announced the departure of head coach Stjepan Tomas following a 2-3 home defeat against Corvinul Hunedoara in the 10th round of the Superliga. The club stated that Tomas and his coaching staff, including assistant Vlado Smit, goalkeeper coach Vlada Avramov, and physical trainer Lidio Melis, have agreed to terminate their contractual relationship.

Prior to his dismissal, Tomas had led the team for 19 matches, recording 6 wins, 6 draws, and 7 losses. Under his tenure, Oțelul Galați currently sits in 14th place with 10 points.

Following the match, Tomas expressed significant frustration regarding officiating decisions. He criticized the referees for failing to award a penalty and a red card in the third minute, and disputed a decisive goal by Corvinul, claiming it should have been ruled offside. Tomas described the officiating errors as making him “very sad for Romanian football.”
