Ofcom investigates GB News over guest comments regarding Pride
Ofcom has launched an investigation into GB News following a broadcast that prompted more than 12,000 complaints. The investigation centers on comments made by Catholic media commentator Caroline Farrow during an episode of ‘Alex Armstrong Tonight’ aired on July 5.
During the live segment, Farrow claimed that Pride parades had moved away from gay rights to celebrate various sexualities, including “bizarre and unhealthy kinks” such as bestiality and paedophilia. Host Alex Armstrong challenged the remarks during the broadcast, later describing them as an “age-old gay trope” used to “demonise and slander gay people.”
GB News issued a statement noting that the comments were the personal views of a contributor and did not reflect the channel’s editorial position. The broadcaster stated it intends to “robustly defend these investigations” and maintains that it complies with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code.
