Off-duty NYPD officer charged in Upstate New York crash with children

Anthony N. Guglielmo, a 38-year-old off-duty New York City Police Department officer, has been charged following a vehicle crash in the Town of Greenport, Upstate New York. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Route 23.

New York State Police report that Guglielmo exhibited signs of intoxication and refused a chemical breath test. Three children, aged 5, 6, and 7, were passengers in the Volkswagen at the time of the collision. No injuries to the children were reported, and they were released to a sober third party.

Guglielmo faces several charges, including three felony counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger under Leandra’s Law, three misdemeanor counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, driving while intoxicated, and reckless driving. He was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment in the Town of Livingston Court.
