Off-grid travel demand surges as travelers seek digital detox

Global travel trends are shifting toward off-grid experiences as travelers, particularly younger generations, seek digital detoxes. Data from Travelbinger shows a 147 percent increase in searches for ‘cabin rentals’ and ‘nature stays’ in 2025 compared to the previous year, with analysts predicting cabins will become a leading accommodation choice by 2026.

In the United Kingdom, Airbnb reported a 98.7 percent rise in searches for ‘off-grid’ accommodations between January 2022 and January 2023. This shift is so significant that some platforms, such as Cool Places, have changed their labeling logic; instead of highlighting available Wi-Fi, they now include a ‘no Wi-Fi’ tag to appeal to those looking to disconnect.

Experts note that while guests often experience a period of adjustment during the first 24 hours of being disconnected, they typically settle into alternative activities after 48 hours. This movement is largely attributed to growing burnout from constant connectivity.
