Augsburg: Hit-and-run traffic accident on B 17

A multi-vehicle traffic accident involving a hit-and-run occurred on the B 17 in Augsburg near the city center. The incident took place around 2:00 PM on Monday, October 12, 2026. An unidentified driver overtook a truck and cut in front of a car, forcing the driver to brake. Simultaneously, a 64-year-old driver attempting to merge onto the B 17 from Gabelsberger Straße also had to brake, resulting in a collision with the truck. The truck was subsequently pushed into another vehicle.

The unidentified driver fled the scene. The 64-year-old driver sustained minor injuries, and the total property damage is estimated to be in the high five-figure range. Police are currently investigating charges of negligent bodily harm, violations of road traffic regulations, and leaving the scene of an accident without permission.
