Office for National Statistics releases 1964 baby name rankings

The UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) published its historical data showing the 15 most popular baby names for boys and girls in 1964. The top girls' names were Susan, Julie, Karen, Jacqueline and Deborah, while the leading boys' names were David, Paul, Andrew, Mark and John. The list reflects naming trends from a year when The Beatles were rising to global fame, and it coincides with the 62nd birthdays of those born in 1964, which will be celebrated in 2026.
