Office of Hawaiian Affairs primary election results

In the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) primary election, several incumbents have advanced to the general election for at-large trustee seats. Because no candidate received more than 50% of the vote, the field of 15 at-large candidates will be narrowed to the top six for the November election.

Early returns show Brickwood Galuteria, John Waihe‘e, and Keoni Souza among the leading incumbents. They will face challengers Ikaika Anderson, Adrian Keali‘i Akina, and Kanekoa “Koa” Crabbe in the general election. For the Oʻahu and Maui trustee seats, incumbents Kalei Akaka and Carmen Hulu Lindsey, respectively, will face challengers Hinaleimoana Wong Kalu and Keʻeaumoku Kapu, as they automatically advanced due to having only two candidates per race.

The election occurs as OHA manages over $600 million in assets and navigates significant decisions, including land development in Kakaako Makai and military lease negotiations. The agency is also currently facing internal conflict involving litigation from former CEO Stacy Ferreira.
