Official in East Azerbaijan emphasizes science and prevention

During events in East Azerbaijan, regional officials highlighted the importance of science, technology, and preventative measures in national security and public health.

Mehrab Davari, the security deputy for the East Azerbaijan governorate, stated that scientific knowledge and technology increase the country’s deterrence capabilities. Speaking at a school in Tabriz during Civil Defense Week, Davari noted that mastery of sciences, such as nuclear science and defense system design, provides essential strength against perceived external threats.

Separately, Mortaza Mohammadzadeh, the political and social deputy for the governorate, addressed the need for a shift toward preventative care in the healthcare system. Marking World Heart Day at the Tabriz Heart House, Mohammadzadeh noted that cardiovascular diseases account for nearly 40 percent of deaths. He argued that the health system must prioritize hygiene and prevention over treatment, as the current focus remains heavily on medical intervention after illnesses have progressed.
