OFI Crete defeats Hoffenheim in Europa League victory

OFI Crete secured a significant 2-0 victory against Hoffenheim at the Pankritio Stadium, marking a successful start to their Europa League League Phase campaign. The win provides a substantial financial boost for the Greek club; following UEFA's prize structure, the team has accumulated approximately €6.38 million in revenue, including participation fees, value pillar distributions, and the €450,000 prize for the win.

Following the historic result, head coach Christos Kontis urged his players to remain focused on domestic competition. While congratulating the squad on their performance, Kontis emphasized that “great teams only celebrate for a little while” and instructed the team to shift their immediate attention to their upcoming league match against Asteras AKTOR.
