OFI Crete manager Christos Kontis attends CSKA Sofia match

Christos Kontis, the manager of OFI Crete, attended the Europa League third qualifying round match between CSKA Sofia and Maccabi Tel Aviv at the Vasil Levski National Stadium. During the event, Kontis met with former CSKA midfielder Methodi Deianov.

Kontis, a former defender, was forced to retire from professional football at age 36 due to heart complications. Following a mild heart attack suffered while playing for APOEL Nicosia, which caused damage to a heart vein, he transitioned into coaching. His career includes roles as an assistant and interim manager at Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, as well as managing Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia and Hatta in the UAE. He has been at the helm of OFI Crete since October 2025.

OFI Crete enters the new season following significant domestic success, having recently won the Greek Cup and the Greek Super Cup after defeating AEK Athens on penalties.
